Start Saturday April 7 - 10:00am and Sunday April 8 - 10:00am at Government Wharf Sidney

Berths for out of town racers may be available on a first come first serve basis - contact Race Committee
Meet at the Canoe Cove Cafe (race headquarters) - Friday April 6, any time after 4:00pm.
Saturday and Sunday after the days' races, there will be draws for prizes.

3 races are scheduled - race committee will have the option of increasing this if time and wind permit. Last race will not start after 3:00pm Saturday, 1:30pm Sunday.

Starting Sequence - One start for all:
  1. white flag - 10 minutes - 1 horn
  2. white flag down - 6 minutes
  3. blue flag - 5 minutes - 1 horn
  4. blue flag down - 1 minute
  5. red flag start - 1 horn

Notice to Competitors

  1. Fourth Annual Canoe Bay Regatta shall take place April 7-8, 2012, with the Start/Finish Line at the eastern end of the Beacon Pier, hosted by Canoe Bay Sailing Club
  2. The Canoe Bay Regatta shall be governed by these Sailing Instructions and by the Rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing and Ratings as per P.H.R.F.N.W.
  3. The List of Competitors shall be divided into 3 Divisions according to Rating
    Div. 1 : -100 to and including +100
    Div. 2 : +101 to and including +180
    Div. 3 : +181 to and including +250

    A 4th Division MAY be organized for light-weight boats of similar Rating. There shall be 5 or more boats to define a Light-Weight Division Any One-Design boats with 5 or more Starters shall be entitled to a separate Division
  4. Fill out on-line Registration Form - PLEASE, note that ALL sections of the Form are REQUIRED
  5. After you submit, check your information is correct on the List of Competitors
  6. Registration SHALL be completed 24 hours prior to race
  7. Registration Fee is $0.00 CDN (that’s correct, folks. No entry fee.)
  8. Please PRINT the Sailing Instructions from this Web Site
  9. Should any Yacht wishing to participate that does not have a valid Rating, the Race Committee shall assign a rating comparable to other Yachts of similar design and rig configuration
  10. Race Headquarters shall be located at the the Canoe Cove Cafe, all Regatta related information i.e. Standings, Notices Ashore to the Competitors, Protest lodging and Protest Meeting(s) (not)

Sailing Instructions

The "Regatta" shall be governed by these "Sailing Instructions" and the rules as defined in the ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing, except as where amended by these Sailing Instructions

The Race Committee shall endeavour to run 3 races during the 2 days allotted for racing (April 7-8, 2012)

Saturday, April 7, 2012, Race #1: warning signal at 0950hrs Race #2: warning signal at 1350hrs. Sunday April 8, 2012 - Race #3: warning signal at 0950hrs - the above schedule may be amended depending on the length of the previous Race

The Time Limit for Races on Saturday shall be 3 hours, no finishes recorded after 4 hour of racing. The Time Limit for the Race on Sunday shall be 4 ½ hours, no finishes recorded after 5 hours of racing.

The Start/Finish Line shall be between the Flag Staff bearing a Yellow Flag and either Mark #5 or Mark #6

Racing Marks shall be "floats with a staff holding a flag" or any of 3 different Navigational Buoys, the position of these marks shall be as follows (with approximate G.P.S. co-ordinates to be posted here in the S.I.’s prior to April 7, 2012):
